What is a Discovery Call, and how do I set one up?

If an introduction you sent or received from an organization was accepted, congrats! You’re both interested in exploring a potential match.

Now, it’s time to set up a 30-60 minute Discovery Call to see if you want to commit to working together. This is your opportunity to learn more about the organization, share more about your skills, and ask any questions.

Tip: Come prepared to tell the representative a bit about yourself, your skills, and why you’re interested in the project.  If it’s a custom project, be ready to discuss how your skills might be able to help solve a problem they’re having.

How to set up a Discovery Call

1. Both you and the organization will be connected via an email from matching@movingworlds.org. Reply all to that email and provide 3 dates/times you’re available for a call within the next 7 days.
2. Once you agree to a date and time that works for both of you, schedule the call and agree on the video conferencing link or phone number you’ll use to connect
3. Review this template with recommended topics to discuss during your call. Remember: the goal is to get the information you need to decide whether you want to confirm the match, or keep looking.
4. After the call, provide an update to the MovingWorlds team by clicking ‘provide update’ on your My Projects page so we can move you to the next step!
  1. If it is a match: we'll let the organization representative know you want to move forward, and follow up with them to confirm.
  2. If it is not a match: we'll let the organization representative know on your behalf so you can keep looking for the right project for your skills
